- In 1588 British destroyed Ship Armada of Spain in a naval battle and they became Naval Power of Europe.
- 100 English Merchants started English East India Company and the Charter issued by Queen Elizabeth on 31st December 1600.
- All the activities of East Indian Company control by a council known as Court of Directors.
- The company’s Director Council included one Governor and 24 Directors.
- First British who reached Mughal was Captain Hawkins in 1608 sent by King James I to the court of Jahangir. But didn’t get permission to start factory due to the influence of Portuguese.
- The first factory of British in India was Mausulipattanam (Andhra) in 1611.
- In 1613 Thomas Best got permission to build factory in Surat from Jahangir.
- 1615 Thomas Roe made commercial treaty with Jahangir and established factories in Agra, Ahmedabad and Broach.
- 1639 Francis Day got Madras for lease from Chennappa Nayak the ruler of Chandragiri and built Fort St. George in 1640 and in 1652 Madras became a presidency by Prime Minister Green Hill.
- 1668 Company bought Bombay as rent from King Charles II of England who got it as dowry by marrying Princes Catherine of Portugal.
- 1680 trade right of Bengal was obtained from Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and in 1690 factory at Sutanati established by Job Charnok.
- 1696 Fort St. William has built in Sutanati after King William III.
- 1690 English East Indian Company built fort St. David in Cuddalore region.
- 1717 the Farman of Company extended to Gujarat and Deccan by Mughal King Farukhsiyar.
- East India Company ruled British possessions in India until the company was abolished in 1858.
