Annual Plan (1966-1969)

  • First Plan holiday period
  • First Green Revolution 1965
  • HYV Seeds distribution
  • Money Devaluation in 1966
  • It gives equal priority to agriculture, its allied sectors and the industry sector.

Fourth Year Plan (1969 – 1974)

  • Priority to Growth with distributive Justice
  • Objective was “Growth with Stability and progressive achievement of Self – Reliance”.
  • FERA (Foreign Exchange Regulating Act, 1973)
  • 14 Banks were nationalized in 1969.
  • Abolition of Privy Purse -1971.
  • Target: 5.6 Achieved: 3.3

Fifth Five Year Plan (1974 – 1979)

  • Priority to Poverty eradication and self-reliance
  • Draft plan prepared and launched by DP Dhar.
  • 20 Point programme – 1975 (1975 – Janata Party dissolve it)
  • The Janata Government stopped the plan in 1979.
  • Target: 4.4 Achieved: 4.8

Rolling Plan (1978 – 1980)

  • Japan Model
  • Rolling Plan of Janata Party
  • But stopped by congress government in 1980
  • Macro-Economic Policy framed
  • District Industrial Centre (DIC) was formed.
