National Supercomputing Mission
- National Supercomputing Mission is an important initiative by the Government of India to boost indigenous efforts to be at the forefront of supercomputing capability for the socio-economic development of the nation.
- The mission is jointly steered by the Ministry of Electronics and IT and the Department of Science & Technology.
Objectives :
Strengthening Institutional Capacity:
- The Mission envisages empowering our national academic and R&D institutions spread over the country by installing a vast supercomputing grid comprising more than 70 high-performance computing facilities.
Pooling supercomputing resources:
- These supercomputers will also be networked on the National Supercomputing grid over the National Knowledge Network (NKN).
- Academic and R&D institutions as well as key user departments/ministries would participate by using these facilities and develop applications of national relevance.
Capacity Building:
- The Mission also includes the development of highly professional High-Performance Computing (HPC) aware human resource for meeting challenges of the development of these applications.
- To provide continuity in maintaining a lead in supercomputing, the Mission also includes advanced R&D.
- This will create requisite expertise to build state-of-the-art next-generation supercomputing
Significance :
- It will bring supercomputing within the reach of the large Scientific & Technology community in the country;
- will provide significant qualitative and quantitative improvement in R&D and higher education in the disciplines of Science & Technology;
- The mission will bring India into the select league of advanced countries such as the US, Japan, China, and the European Union (EU) which share top Supercomputing machines in the world.
- Supercomputing facilities will enable India in S&T capabilities in areas such as designing vehicles, airplanes, massive structures like high-rise buildings and bridges, infrastructure, the discovery of new life-saving drugs, discovery, and the extraction of new energy sources including oil, natural gas, etc.

நிறுவன திறனை வலுப்படுத்துதல்:
- 70 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட உயர் செயல்திறன் கொண்ட கணினி வசதிகளைக் கொண்ட ஒரு பரந்த சூப்பர் கம்ப்யூட்டிங் உட்கட்டமைப்பை நிறுவுவதன் மூலம் நாடு முழுவதும் பரவியுள்ள நமது தேசிய கல்வி மற்றும் ஆர் அன்ட் டி நிறுவனங்களை மேம்படுத்துவதற்கு இந்த மிஷன் திட்டமிட்டுள்ளது.
சூப்பர் கம்ப்யூட்டிங் வளங்களை சேகரித்தல்:
- இந்த சூப்பர் கம்ப்யூட்டர்கள் தேசிய சூப்பர் நெட்வொர்க் (என்.கே.என்) வழியாக தேசிய சூப்பர் கம்ப்யூட்டிங் கட்டத்தில் நெட்வொர்க் செய்யப்படும். கல்வி மற்றும் ஆர் அன்ட் டி நிறுவனங்கள் மற்றும் முக்கிய அமைச்சகங்கள் இந்த வசதிகளைப் பயன்படுத்தி பங்கேற்பதோடு நாட்டிற்கு தேவையான தகவல்களை ஒருங்கிணைக்கிறது.
திறன் மேம்பாடு:
- இந்த பயன்பாடுகளின் வளர்ச்சியின் சவால்களை எதிர்கொள்வதற்கான உயர் தொழில்முறை உயர் செயல்திறன் கணினி (HPC) விழிப்புணர்வுள்ள மனித வளத்தின் வளர்ச்சியும் இந்த மிஷனில் அடங்கும்.

- இது நாட்டின் பெரிய அறிவியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப சமூகத்தின் எல்லையை சூப்பர் கம்ப்யூட்டிங்ற்க்குள் கொண்டுவரும். விஞ்ஞானம் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப பிரிவுகளில் ஆர் அன்ட் டி மற்றும் உயர் கல்வியில் குறிப்பிடத்தக்க தரமான முன்னேற்றத்தை வழங்கும்;
- இந்தியா, அமெரிக்கா, ஜப்பான், சீனா மற்றும் ஐரோப்பிய ஒன்றியம் (ஐரோப்பிய ஒன்றியம்) போன்ற முன்னேறிய நாடுகளின் பட்டியலில் இந்தியாவை அழைத்து வரும், அவை உலகின் சிறந்த சூப்பர் கம்ப்யூட்டிங் இயந்திரங்களை பகிர்ந்து கொள்ள வழிவகுக்கும்.
- வாகனங்கள், விமானங்கள், உயரமான கட்டிடங்கள் மற்றும் பாலங்கள் போன்ற பாரிய கட்டமைப்புகள், உள்கட்டமைப்பு, புதிய உயிர்காக்கும் மருந்துகளின் கண்டுபிடிப்பு, எண்ணெய், இயற்கை எரிவாயு உள்ளிட்ட புதிய எரிசக்தி ஆதாரங்களைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பது மற்றும் பிரித்தெடுப்பது போன்ற துறைகளில் எஸ் & டி திறன்களில் சூப்பர் கம்ப்யூட்டிங் வசதிகள் இந்தியாவுக்கு உதவும்
